A short case for sweating the details nobody asks for — the empty state, the slow query, the half-pixel border.
Nobody files a ticket for a half-pixel border. But everybody feels it.
Details are the work
The polish that separates fine from excellent lives in the places no one explicitly asks about:
- The empty state before any data loads.
- The error message when the network drops.
- The query that's 40ms today and 2s at scale.
Why it pays off
Details are a proxy for care. When the small things are right, people trust the big things — even the parts they can't see. That trust is the whole game.
