Shipping fast without breaking things

How I keep momentum on client projects — small slices, tight feedback loops, and a deploy pipeline I actually trust.

Speed and stability feel like opposites. They aren't — not if you set the work up right.

Ship in slices

The single biggest lever is release size. A small, frequent release is cheap to review, cheap to test, and cheap to roll back. A big-bang launch is none of those.

  • Break a feature into the smallest thing that's still useful.
  • Ship it behind a flag if it isn't ready for everyone.
  • Watch it in production before building the next slice.

Make the safe path the easy path

If the correct workflow is also the fastest workflow, people follow it without thinking. That means:

  1. Preview deploys on every pull request.
  2. Type checks and tests that run in seconds, not minutes.
  3. One command to reset a local database.

Momentum compounds; perfection stalls.

The goal isn't zero mistakes. It's making mistakes small, visible, and fast to undo.
